Encontro e desejo em Spinoza e Schopenhauer
Keywords:
Pessimism. Will. Ascetism. Conatus. Good Rendezvous.Abstract
This article attempts to investigate the possibility of a connection between the philosophy of Schopenhauer and that of Spinoza through a reassessment of Schopenhauer's ascetic pessimism and Spinoza's notion of conatus. The goal is to demonstrate that, despite its negative and tragic notion of will, Schopenhauer's philosophy may, through a new understanding of its concept of representation and ascetism, be conceived as an art or propaedeutics for the good rendezvous, much as the philosophy of Spinoza would.
